Van Camping!
September 29, 2014
David is back from his training and my heart is a happy heart! I really missed him. The man kind of grows on ya! Seriously, I really did miss him!
Okay, so I wanted some alone time with my man and suggested we sleep out in his van. There is a nice twin mattress out there and blankets so I though it would be real cozy and romantic.
Our first, among many mistakes was thinking it would be a good idea to bring the dog out there to sleep in the van with us. After we all settled into the van for the evening, David spent the first half hour chasing the dog out of things. He was trying to scrounge up food crumbs and paper to chew up.
Jackson refused to sit still, he was driving us insanely crazy there was nothing relaxing about it. But it wasn't until he farted in the small closed up van we decided to kick him out and back into the house. Kind of a mood killer if you know what I mean!
David came back out from bringing he dog in and seemed irritated by then. I think he was wondering what part of this was relaxing?
He said he was sweating and hot. We had to re organize all the blankets and pillow which just further irritated him. We were in kind of a mess by that point. He kept complaining how hot and sweaty he was. So I suggested to him that maybe he should take off some of his layers of clothes. That suggestion didn't go over well and wound up being mood killer number two. At this point I felt it was best to just relax and watch an episode of SVU on his laptop. Bingo!about a half hour in the show and very relaxed now, David gives me "the look" the look of love and while smiling at me in his Cheshire grin, he slowly closes his lap top down. Pitch dark in the van at this point and one naked wife later it happens, a very loud painful bang and the silhouette of my husband grabbing the top of his head.
I could never go into full detail about what lead up to my husbands head injury in the van that night, but trust me when I say, that was mood killer number three! Three strikes and your out right? Yup! Out!
He will now only see his van as a place of sleep and nothing else. No room for nothing else. Our camping adventure ended at 2am when we went back into the house in our own bed, with the dog!
This time apart made us step back and appreciate all we have together and how much we love and missed each other. The reconnection as been great!
Today he is off driving shuttle with one of our sons, but I am anxious for him to come home. Being away has renewed something in us and I am liking it a lot.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today. Peace..... :)
