Hello my food- E friends! I got a little tip for those of you who LOVE LOVE LOVE to douse your salad in dressing but don't love love love the calories!
I'm sure by now you all know by my many food posts that I really enjoy eating. I bet you thought I was going to say cooking, right? Ha! Gotcha!
Well let me clarify. I LOVE eating and I like cooking and just mildly like baking. But I really like finding ways to eat what I want and not have to skimp on the good stuff. I mean, it's just not fair some people can eat what ever they want and never gain a single ounce. I am not one of those people, unfortunately!
Thousand Island dressing is one of my favorite dressing but I can never really enjoy it on my salad because I'm so worried about the fat calories. But I think I've found a way around that.
You're probably going to love this if you are into trying new ideas. I made a salad today and was in the mood for lots of dressing. I did not have any dressing in the house so I decided to make my own.
I took Pace Salsa and one tiny little dollop of sour cream, mixed it all together and it came out not only looking like thousand island salad dressing, it taste like it too! Um Um GOOD! I drenched my salad in this and was in dressing heaven and the best part? no worries about too much fat.
Salsa is a big ZERO on the fatty food scale. The small dollop of sour cream will not matter if you don't over do. If your totally uptight about it go one step further and use low fat or fat free sour cream. I've never really noticed much difference between them all anyway. If your going to be using a small amount, let's just go with the real thing. Why sacrifice taste?
Slim to none calories and rich in taste! Come on, give it a try, you know you want too!
Here is my salad today: Rich green spinach leaves, crumbled blue cheese, carrots sticks, tomatoes wedges, cucumber, red onion and thinly sliced roast beef. Last but not least, my yum to the tum new delicious dressing!
Does that picture of dressing all over look like your cheating? Well your not so Bon Appetit!
